11 U.S. Diplomats Leave Belarus Amid Dispute
05/05/2008 - 00:17 / The New York TimesEleven United States diplomats have left Belarus after a dispute with the government over human rights and sanctions, an embassy representative said Saturday.
Belarus had ordered 10 American diplomats to leave because Washington had refused to reduce its embassy staff in Minsk.
“All 11 diplomats, 10 of whom were declared persona non grata, together with their families have left Belarussian territory and entered Lithuania,” an embassy representative said.
