Lukashenka Meets with Heineken Top Executives
04/15/2008 - 22:55 / Naviny.byBelarus is interested in the involvement of Heineken NV in the country’s brewing industry, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said while meeting with the Dutch brewer’s top executives on April 15.
Heineken NV bought the Babruysk-based Syabar brewery, the owner of Belarus’ second-largest beer brand, for an undisclosed amount in late 2007.
“We are ready to offer you comprehensive support as if to our, Belarusian company,” official information sources quoted him as saying. “What matters most is that you should set us technological tasks that meet the world’s highest standards.”
Jean-François van Boxmeer, chairman of the company’s Executive Board, for his part, said that Heineken NV was interested to work in the Belarusian market.
He said that the Dutch company would consider buying more breweries in Belarus in the future.
