Belarus’ President Congratulates Raul Castro on His Election as President of Council of State of Cuba
02/26/2008 - 20:44 / National Legal PortalThe President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has congratulated Raul Castro Ruz on his election as President of the Council of State and Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cuba, BelTA learnt in the presidential press service.
Alexander Lukashenko praised the high level of Belarusian-Cuban relationship and expressed the hope to see further expansion of mutually beneficial and stable cooperation based on mutual understanding and trust.
In his message of congratulations, Alexander Lukashenko expresses confidence that, being governed by Raul Castro, Cuba will move on with its policy of advancing its national interests, will materialize its plans aimed at ensuring further growth in the welfare of the Cuban people.
The President has also sent a message to Fidel Castro in connection with his leaving the office of President of the Council of State and Council of Ministers of Cuba. “Your life has become a bright page in the history of the national liberation movement of the peoples of Latin America against neocolonialism. You were standing at the foundation of the first ever truly sovereign Cuban state,” the President in his message to Fidel Castro.
It was the contribution made by Fidel Castro towards promoting the fruitful cooperation between Belarus and Cuba that has become a reliable foundation for the friendly relationship between the two countries. “For your numerous admirers in the world you will always remain an outstanding example of ardent service to the Fatherland, to the cause of freedom and independence,” said the President of Belarus.
