Belarus' Air Force Pilots for First Time Perform Landing on Highway

Two Su-25 Frogfoot ground attack aircraft belonging to the 206th Ground Attack Air Force Base in Lida, Hrodna region, landed on a section of the Minsk-Brest highway in the Minsk district, with a view to studying the possibility of using automobile highways in combat operations. One of the jet planes was reportedly piloted by General Major Mikhail Lyavitski, deputy commander-in-chief of the Air/Air Defense Forces and air force chief, and Colonel Ihar Holub, chief of the 206th Base, and the other by Colonel Alyaksandr Zimin, ground attack air force first deputy chief, and Major Viktar Slabadskoy, a squadron commander.
After taking off from the highway, the Frogfoots headed for the Ruzhany air force training ground for a live-fire exercise.
On the same day, a MiG-29 Fulcrum fighter of the 927th Airbase in Byaroza, Brest region, performed a final approach for landing on the same section of the Minsk-Brest highway, coming down to an altitude of 50 meters.
