UNESCO Ethics Teacher Training Course Will Be Held in Minsk, Belarus on 17-21 November 2008

One of the activities undertaken to disseminate information concerning the Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights, adopted in 2005 by UNESCO, is the UNESCO Ethics Education Program. This program is mapping existing teaching programs in the area of ethics in the Member States of UNESCO. The various programs are described, discussed in expert meetings, and made available in the Global Ethics Observatory. Experiences concerning the contents, intensity, methods and materials of existing programs are therefore publicly accessible and can be exchanged among experts. Teachers who want to initiate ethics teaching can find suggestions and ideas in the database.

UN Watchdog to Oversee Belarus Nuclear Project

Inspectors from UN nuclear watchdog International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) arrive in Belarus Tuesday for a three-day visit to oversee a project for the country’s first nuclear power plant, the general designer said. The proposed power plant, with a capacity of 2,000 MW, is expected to provide electricity equal to that generated from five billion cubic metres of natural gas, at half the cost.
