Heads of private universities are to be appointed by education minister. This decision of a standing committee of the “chamber of representatives” of the “national assembly” of Belarus on education, culture, science and scientific development has been announced by the committee’s chairman Uladzimir Zdanovich at a press-conference on February 1.

Lukashenko wants to make Belarus space nation

MINSK, February 2 (Itar-Tass) -- Belarus must become a space nation, President Alexander Lukashenko said on Friday. “It is a matter of Belarus’ transformation into a space nation, which may have more than one satellite,” he said. Belarus “must be fully autonomous in the operation of satellites, and data must be transmitted directly to the Belarussian territory,” he said.
