We are

We –activists and volunteers of the Third Way—are a group of young people with various professions and experience but with common values and aspiration for a life in the Belarus that we imagine.

We believe that it is impossible to achieve success in the transformation of society just by copying the experience of the past (the first way)—it is not the way for a young Belarusian society. That is the way of Lukashenka and his regime. Likewise, Belarusian society has its unique features of the society development that do not allow to achieve success just by copying other countries' way of development (the second way).

We choose the third way. We want to mobilize the young generation of Belarusians. Having enough knowledge of different ways of the society development, possessing internationally acknowledged professional skills, knowing their people, young Belarusians will be able to find the third way of development of the Belarusian nation that will bring it to prosperity.

Our Mission

is to assist the process of modernization of Belarus into a successful and competitive country with the priority of liberal values.

Strategic goals:

• to form a new generation of professional national elite in Belarus;
• to create a sustainable and influential political platform for a step-by-step modernization of Belarus.

Tactical priorities

- On the current stage of its development, Third Way community is able to accomplish effectively a mission of mediator/combiner of civic and political communities in Belarus. It is also an independent “third party” which can build a network of Belarusian civic activists (a network organization of civil activists and initiatives in Belarus). What can Third Way give to its partners they don't have now? What is our community can be responsible for?

We have Achieved

We have been working since 21 August, 2004. More than a million people worldwide visited our web sites this year. We have a daily average of 1,400 internet visitors ( www . akavita . by ). Our most popular web sites are leaders of the Belarusian web in the category “Society and Politics.”

Third Way started as a community of only 5 individuals. Today we have more than dozens of volunteers and activists. More than 1,000 people support us and monitor our activities. Our ever-growing community has its groups and activists in Belarus, Germany, USA, Russia, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden, and Estonia.

Our Projects

“Multclub ” (http://mult.3dway.org) – a joint animation project together with civic initiative Multclub . The aim of the project is to depict a complicated Belarusian political reality in a series of cartoons.

“Informator” (http://gazeta.3dway.org) – a network newspaper. Third Way has been publishing it monthly since the beginning of 2005. It has been created and distributed in printed and electronic form entirely by Third Way community.

“Kniga” (“Book”) (http://kniga.3dway.org) – a project of web book publishing. It was created in summer 2005 and introduces timely works of Belarusian writers devoted to political topics.

“Za nashih!” (“For our people!”) (http://za.nashih.org) – a civil campaign against the renaming of the main Minsk avenues in 2005. It was held together with Voka, Chas and Partnerstvo initiatives and the F. Skaryna Belarusian Language Society.

“Bynet solidarity” (http://16.3dway.org) – an initiative for internet support of the Day of Belarus Solidarity 16. It was launched in 2006.

“Svoboden!” (“Free!”) (http://svoboden.org) – a campaign of solidarity with Belarusian caricaturists held by a number of East European mass media in 2006.

“For the freedom of political prisoners in Belarus!” (http://za.nashih.info) – a campaign launched to draw Western countries' attention to Belarusian problems and to express solidarity with Belarusian political prisoners. Launched in summer 2006.

How Can You Help?

You can participate in Third Way's activity in many ways.

If you are a professional in the field of IT, e.g. designer, programmer, administrator or you are a journalist, marketer or PR expert, we invite you to join us to develope our projects' websites by starting joint work with our technical and PR groups.

If you'd like to write and be published in our websites, wouldn't you, you are welcome! Let us know about your interests and attach your article, material, or just an idea of future publication. Your material may be published after consultation with www.3dway.org website's editorial staff.

If you'd like to discuss the most stirring problems with other people, to share some exclusive information about the activities of Belarusian state authority, or to tell everyone a story of our country's life known just to you, visit our website's forum (www.3dway.org/forum).

If you have talents, creative ideas for making new informational products (video, audio, animation), send your works to us. We'll be happy to popularize your works and ideas!

21 August, 2007 – our community's 3d birthday. We are happy to celebrate it with our new friends who have become or are going to become our community's volunteers and activists.

Our activity both in internet and “offline” is based on the principles of voluntary participation, personal interest, and the priority of self-financing and private donations.

However, we have stable contacts with numerous private and institutional donor organizations that support our activities in internet and our groups' activities outside Belarus.

For us, Third Way is a way to participate in public and political life of our country as well as an open democratic debating platform, where the topics which are important for the today and tomorrow Belarus are being discussed.
